The Falkirk Triangle

Bonnybridge Falkirk Triangle Billy

The small Scottish town of Bonnybridge (pop. 6,000) not far from Edinburgh, bills itself the UFO capital of the world. According to its colourful local councillor, Billy Buchanan, almost half of the town’s residents have seen a UFO at one time or another and on a yearly basis, around 300 sighting reports are received from Bonnybridge and its environs – an area stretching from Stirling to the outskirts of Edinburgh which has been dubbed the “Falkirk Triangle”.

It all started in 1992 when James Walker noticed some strange lights in the sky while driving home. At first he thought they were stars but was startled when he saw them move and assumed a triangle shape. Since then, UFO sightings have been coming in thick and fast in Bonnybridge. Local politician Billy Buchanan, in among all the other mundane problems such as burst water mains and inadequate rubbish collection which his constituents asked him to solve, found himself receiving more and more complaints about UFOs. Eventually, these reached such a volume that he felt he could ignore the issue no longer. He chose to go public with it, attracting massive media attention to the town. Councillor Buchanan wrote to the Queen, the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Defence, demanding that the UFO reports be investigated. Predictably, the publicity generated resulted in even more people coming forward, claiming to have seen UFOs.

Fortunately, in the modern age, lots of people have video cameras or cameras on their mobile phones, so one feature of the Falkirk Triangle flap has been that quite a few of the UFOs spotted have also been captured on film or photograph. Many of the sightings occur at night and consist simply of weird lights in the sky. Often, they change shape or colour or modulate in brightness over time.

There’s more to the Falkirk Triangle sightings than lights in the sky, however. Take the case of the Slogett family, for example. Like others, they saw a mysterious blue light in the sky as they walked home one evening. But then they saw a flying saucer “about the size of a house” land right in moorland close by. They heard some kind of sound suggestive of a door opening on the vehicle. Terrified, they ran away as fast as they possibly could but were pursued by two smaller crafts. Eventually, the crafts disappeared and the family made it home safely. Alien abductions have also been reported in the area.

Could there be a conventional explanation for the spate of UFO sightings in the Falkirk Triangle? Scotland certainly has its fair share of military bases. Could the apparent UFOs be nothing more than experimental military aircraft being tested at night? Certainly, many of the Falkirk Triangle sightings are at long-range and occur at night. Secret aircraft could perhaps account for some of these but not for the short-range sightings or the reports of alien abduction.

Bonnybridge Sceptics

Sceptics claim that the Bonnybridge UFO hotspot is bogus – a grand scheme concocted by Billy Buchanan to drum up interest in his town, which has languished in the economic doldrums for some time and where a little more tourist traffic would no doubt be good for the local economy. A certain amount of UFO tourism has indeed developed in response to the flood of sighting reports. And Councillor Buchanan wants more. He has been talking up a scheme to build a UFO information centre tourist attraction in the town but so far nothing has come of it owing to a lack of funding.

Others believe that there really is something to the Bonnybridge phenomenon, but that Councillor Buchanan has made the most of it, perhaps exaggerating a little to try and win publicity for his town. He has certainly succeeded in that with the establishment of a twinning relationship with Roswell in New Mexico, site of the famous alleged saucer crash in 1947.

Some locals are reportedly unhappy with Councillor Buchanan, complaining that he has made the town a laughing stock. Everywhere they go, they say, whenever they tell others they are from Bonnybridge, they find themselves being asked questions about UFOs.

Conclusion

A disproportionate number of UFO reports are still received from the Falkirk Triangle area. It does seem to be one of the world’s current premier UFO hotspots. So, if you fancy seeing one for yourself, why not pay the town a visit, put a smile on Billy Buchanan’s face and help the local tourism trade?

Its interesting to hear of UFO reports in Scotland but do people realise that UFO reports like we hear today just simply didn't exist historically. Now this begs the question of when and for that matter why? UFO reports are not represented historically, now most people would recognise that the early nineteen fifties where the start of the UFO era even though it was more associated with hollywoods invading aliens rather than the real 50's UFO flap that engulfed all of the USA. But did you know the first recorded modern UFO's weren't seen as alien space craft but anonymous orbs of light that harassed allied pilots in the early years of the second world war known as the Foo Fighters, these orbs confounded all who seen them and nobody really knew what they where, even after first realising they weren't the secret Nazi technology they thought they might be,indeed allied pilots where instructed by there high command to ignore this distraction and complete there missions, with there complaint the orbs where impervious to bullets and shells completely ignored.No-one in allied command knew what they where and no-one evidently understood there purpose. But there is one telling fact overlooked at the time especially since the knowledge of UFO's as potentially alien space craft wasn't really understood and that was the reasoning behind the Foo Fighter and the UFO phenomenon which has persisted no end and to this day.To understand this mystery we must first have to ask why? UFO'S (foo fighters) would present themselves to allied pilots yet not to the axis powers of Nazi Germany Japan and the like who didn't appear to have as much an Foo Fighter problem.Perhaps we need to look at the allied pilots duties flying over occupied Europe and carrying out sorties over Nazi Germany to understand the Foo Fighter phenomenon. But first we need to understand the nature of warfare to see if an trigger event caused the coming of the UFO in the guise of the Foo Fightet. Its an fact that in the early years of the second world war only armed combatants in uniform where the participants, all had either volunteered or where conscripted but none where civilians not knowing what they had let themselves in for,Indeed the targeting of civilians as combatants in the context of war is an statute war crime as set out in the Geneva convention. Thus during the early years of world war 2 between 1939 and 1942 no civilians where the victims of allied ariel bombing campaigns keeping to terms of the convention, but this all changed when an German luftwaffe squadron accidentally bombed London claiming to have 'flown off 'course. The resultant of this 'accident' meant the allies instantly took up the revenge ariel bombing of German cities with civilians as its primary targets and its unfortunate victims,by 1942 the allies where making frequent bombing raids of German cities killing tens of thousands of innocent men women and children none of whom where combatants and in this directly contrav

1st January 1994 at about 7am driving on the M80 from Sterling to Cumbernauld with 2 friends in the car we saw a huge bright light in the sky around the area of Denny. No camera phones in those days but it was not the moon or a police helicopter and it was not moving. A few months later I read a magazine and a couple saw the same thing, same time and same date. They tried to take a picture and it went towards them which they quickly set off in their car.

October 2009 at 6.50 pm,over the takmadoon rd travelling with my sons to visit my mum in Stirling hospital,we thought we were being stopped by police as there were flashing lights behind us,red green and blue in sequence,as we slowed to a near stop my son in the back shouted to keep going,as I turned to look there was a craft about 30 ft in diameter,it sat above the road at 3 ft we were nearly at a stop when it suddenly shot up at an angle and into the night, streamlining blue red and green lights in its wake

This morning around 02:30 I was watching the skies for the pleiades meteor shower when I noticed three lights in a triangle formation hanging in the sky. I didn't get a good shot of them but I will try to clean up the images today.

I see lots of weird flying objects where I live but last week I saw 7 different objects 3 were not orbs and 2 were not far from my home I was worried as they were too close for comfort I called my mum to tell her there were weird crafts flying around one was red lights the other green and the long shaped one was red, blue, and green lights, there was blasts of energy lights coming from them I watched them for ages then they left, I have watched different crafts flying around but last weeks were a bit close for comfort.I should have filmed it but I was afraid if I went for my camera I would miss them as I have a broken ankle so can't move fast so I just sat and watched them but I was a little scared at the red one and green one they were too close for my liking.Enjoyed reading other people's stories I don't feel so crazy now I know others have seen flying crafts in Uruguay Scottish skies, thanks. Ref my earlier comment - whilst on vacation in Edinburgh we were staying with Rels. My then wife's aunt had this habit of placing afoil in her hat and in her car...supposedly to stop the alien rays! True story...spooky hey.

I was in portobello Edinburgh in early 1999 on vacation from Australia. Out for lunch one day I looked up into the quite clear sky when three silver orbs were seen tracking across the sky. No sound was heard and they definitely were not air craft of any description. They could not be explained away as anything other than UFO's. They were in a triangular formation but as to size and hight it was difficult to judge.

Bonnybridge is full of alcoholics I blame the aliens or many the fumes from the distillery but I have heard weird noises like a doo doo dool dool almost the sound you'd hear on an alien film from a spaceship looked outside and never saw anything but definitely heard a strange noise above my house

This is a story told to me by a friend.Eddie Hamilton who sadly died a few years ago. The incident took place approx 30 years ago.Eddie went to see a film in Edinburgh with a friend.Coming out of the cinema at 10.00pm they set off in his car to drive home to Innerleithen near Peebles(approx an hours drive). When driving down the A703 south of Leadburn he said the car was completely enveloped in a strong blue light wich seamed to light up all the moor around them. He stopped the car & opened the door. Stepping out of the car he looked up at the light which he said was a strange shimmering light which made him very dizzy & made all his actions very slow. The last thing he remembered was turning & looking at the car where his friend was sitting sound asleep. The next thing he remembered was sitting in the car driving through the village of Eddleston. He arrived back in Innerleithen at his house where his father & and a neighbour were at the door. His father began shouting "Were the hell have you been. It's One O'clock. we were going to call the police." 2 hours had disappeared. He has no recollection of anything else & his friend had no recollection of anything as he slept through the whole thing.

Hi,I recently posted my sighting at the black loch limerigg in 1996 which is already up in the comments though I recently came back on here and seen a few of the comments about my sighting and was quite surprised by the majority of the replies in a positive way about it,although the odd one or two who disbelieve what I seen and experienced have commented also, which doesn't bother me one iota as regardless of anyone's view all I'd wish too say is that if you were they're and witnessed it also then at the flick of a switch you would change your views as it was so close and blatant to be written off as a plane/bird/planet etc etc. As I said in the previous post this was 19 years ago but still to this day the most amazing and spectacular thing( excluding the births of my children obviously :) that my eyes have seen and witnessed in my lifetime!!!This make no mistake was a bonafide ufo and in my view if I got it on camera/video would be in the top three ufo sightings in modern times, such was the distance we viewed it and the altitude and speed and colour of it,capped off with basically a flyby is the only way I could explain how low fast and CLOSE it passed before going out of view to the horizon A couple of questions some have asked of my last post, which I'll do my best to answer. 1- I'm no aviation/paranormal expert, but I know it was definitely not a spirit/demon etc as this was a craft and solid structure and general shape. 2- It is not close from this area too the base of machrahanish(forgive the spelling) as asked because this area is the central belt and that base I'm sure is in the far north of Scotland, even so if it was I cant think why if it is a top secret plane/craft being tested then why would you choose to pass near towns etc at low altitude in totally clear skies especially if it is luminous/luminescence in colour as that makes no sense too me,surely this cannot be a good location/conditions to test a top secret plane, and also why would a helicopter be sent to scout/check the area.personally I think the ufo went below radar at or very near our location when it came very low and that's why this specific area was searched!!Which too me reinforces and confirms my belief that this was a solid object that was picked up on radar. 3- To clarify, the location is semi-rural and with views to each side for miles. Around a half hour from Glasgow. When I stated loch also, for folks that don't know It is similar to a lake. 4- The craft I seen was under control and was obvious, same as seeing a plane fly over on a route/heading and obviously to me this was under control in some way such was its descent and speed and perfectly straight course. If it wasn't under control it would have crashed into the water at its passing and descent at that moment. 5- As I stated before Iam no aviation expert, but whilst in my teens I lived in a semi-rural location which at that time was not uncommon to see tornado jets on training flying low s

Iwas driving home from work one evening and found myself on a space ship. All I saw before it was fog and two beams of red/yellow light coming from the sky. There were two aliens on board and showed me amazing equipment. I saw a video of their planet and learned a lot from them. The most exciting things were the body scanner and the lens that let me see to the bottom of the river bed. I could move around without falling over as the ship moved at great speed and there were tunnels in the sky which took them long distances is a short space of time. They had light beams that could transport heavy objects. There is lots more but I doubt if anyone would believe me.
germaine - 7-Oct-15 @ 12:23 AM
Read a few of the comments. Anyway I didn't believe in all the ufo stuff but just thought I'd put my comment up and if folk want too believe it or not I couldn't really care as just putting it up as think it's selfish keeping to myself. Anyway on a late summer evening ( still light and could see for miles) in 1996 I was parked up at the side of the black loch in limerigg with my then girlfriend. I happened to look right out the drivers window and could see a green luminous dot on the horizon coming over what I believe is the ochil hills. It came from they're and in a direct straight line heading in our direction. From about halfway from when I seen it too our location it started to descend down as it approached us and it flew directly over the top of the car at about 45 feet!!! So close and directly overhead that for a second or two I had to look up through the windscreen too keep seeing it!! It kept the same height and flew right off into the horizon in the distance. This thing was quick as I reckon it done 30 miles in about 30 to 35 seconds which is how long we seen it for. It was like a mint luminous green band round the full craft about a metre wide and inside this you could make out the outline in a much darker colour ( ie grey or black but hard too tell exact colour with the green band illuminating it.) it made not a sound or even any wind etc from it and totally silent with no engine noise or even exhaust etc. This came close to us,real close and so low I thought it would go into the loch, but could clearly see and tell it was under total control due to the height it came from and how low it passed us over that distance and too the horizon. Like a widened/ heightened and lengthened teardrop shape is best way I could describe it but it was really streamlined and sleek in shape. This thing was fast, really fast but looked effortless with that speed. Obviously me and my girl at the time were stunned and sat talking about it for a good fifteen to twenty minutes, when we heard the sound of a chopper close by. This chopper which was like a big military one and a Matt black colour with no markings at all came over the loch and started looking around the area and this was blatantly obvious. They're is woodland the other side from wheyre we were and it hovered over the woods and searching in like a grid and doing like a square at a time, over the full woods. Then it went right round the loch perimeter in a circle quite low and then it widened and widened this circle till it was about a half mile from the loch. It then came back too the woods area and over the loch still looking around. At this I thought it was a good idea too leave as it was blatant they were looking for the ufo we just seen and didn't fancy taking the chance if they landed and asked if we seen what they were looking for. I know some people will be going oh really,a chopper came which was unmarked etc and searched around but Iam only telling it how it happened and what happene

Hi there! Yesterday evening (Monday 25th May 2015) at around 7.50 pm my partner and I saw a very peculiar object travelling at high speed in the sky. I filmed it on my iPhone and if anyone is interested in viewing it please let me know and I shall email a copy of the footage. It won'wt win any awards ... but it clearly shows what we saw! Best regards ... Theo.

You can't really deny it anymore, because of what there doing in vienna, all the scientists and goverments attempting to go through into othet excistences beside us, actually says in bible and many different teachings!I believe in other worlds, besides all the New technology and how we have advanced in last 50 or so Years and many of us have seen orhave had experiences and we know it came from outside this world we can't deny that! Some people ignore it but mist of us know its coming from somewhere elsemore advanced, any feedback? Let's keep positive thinking on all that's going on and getting reveals at this time on our planet!

I had just come off the m386 I think it is maybe wrong over the clackmannashire bridge and headed for perth on my way to aberdeen at about 3 30 am on the 30th december 2014 when out the corner of my eye and coming into view from the roof of my car into the windscreen I noticed what immediatly in my head registered as a shooting star but wen I looked at it it turned almost like a boomerang and shot off in the other direction and what was more was that it was green and dissapeared as fast as it came I'm not scottish I don't believe in ufos but this was weird it was maybe a second or 2 but time seemed to stand still. Anyone any ideas?

My mother-in-law was Bonnybridge born and bred. She firmly believed in reincarnation and claimed she was a reincarnated Atlantean, because she had bumps on her ears. Her father was an alcoholic, as were her husband and her son.Perhaps she attracted them. And UFOs?Ah, perhaps. She was certainly a very peculiar person, to put it nicely.

I have just moved into a new flat in Langlees, Falkirk and on my first night there I was just looking out the window and there were some strange goings on in Sky..strange lights moving around the Sky and a really large cigar shaped vessel moving through the Sky at a very fast speed. I was never a believer but things like this and the research into it has really opened my eyes.
Yammie102 - 1-Sep-14 @ 4:31 PM
Well, my parents were visiting their friends at a house called Kirkmailing, which is close to the church at Larbert Cross (No jokes about the Larbert connection !) It was twilight on a summer night, they were outside and saw a cigar shaped thing in the sky (Mum says it was massive), light visible from the inside, no noise. It flew very slowly left to right across the sky and was not flying very high in the sky. Suddenly it accelerated out of sight. This was around about the late 60s early 70s .My folks may have enjoyed a drink but no way was there ever anything else involved. They thought that the RAF must have been testing some kind of new plane...........................

well ye may be skeptics but av seen a few strange things that a was sober and not alone and it was not just me that experienced and saw it every time so there is something going on yes it could be covert military operations that we will maybe never know but call those that have seen stuff what you want just cause you have not seen a thing yourself

Lots going on near that area but sorry guys its not all ET but the USAF, Scotland has become on big secret base mainly the central belt hence the ET activity in that area. I wouldn’t waste any time trying to find them as they are deep underground but there are a few key points that bring the MIB into play who are human not alien. If you want to see ET on the ground then hang about the A70 but keep a good distance if you value your health.

Half the towns folk have seen them but a taxi driver that doesn't drive but mearly reclines in his car while trying to stay awake every night of the week says it's all rubbish. Best we go with the sleeping taxi driver on this one
Buzz Lightbulb - 16-Jun-12 @ 11:53 PM
I'll tell you now its all rubbish. At the time of all this so called UFOs spotted in Bonnybridge I was working as a taxi driver with a zone4 plate, which covered the area of Bonnybridge, Denny & Dunipace and Banknock. The firm I worked with wanted to establish a night shift and you had to do during the week to benefit from the weekend work.So there I was night after Night sitting at bonnybridge toll or the bridge at high bonnybridge all night long with my seat tilted back looking at the sky through my sun roof and never saw anything at all, I did this for over a year. But the biggest surprise was half the people that stated they saw ufos I had taken up the road earlier and that drunk they could not even stand let alone look up to the sky. It's all rubbish, I believe that there are ufos and one or 2 maybe have been spotted here like anywhere else but not on the level they are claiming.
